BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER
YOUR APPOINTMENT
What should I do 24 hours before my custom spray tan?

Shave or wax off unwanted body hair.
You will want to shave or wax 24 hours before your airbrush tan, so your skin is primed to receive great results. Waxing is not to be done AFTER your tan is applied as it would remove some of your tan! Men: note that you will still get a great tan with body hair intact.

Receive your manicure and/or pedicure.
Complete your healthy look and pamper your digits prior to your airbrush tan. Be sure to shower after your nails are dry to remove excess oils from your skin.

Shower and lightly exfoliate your body.
This important step removes dead cells and reveal your freshest skin. It will help to provide the most even application and extend the life of your tan. Please don’t go overboard with rough exfoliation. Be nice to your skin.

What should I do immediately before my custom spray tan?

Skin should be clean and dry.
Do not apply moisturizer, deodorant/antiperspirant, body oil, shaving cream or makeup to your skin. They act as barriers to your skin! Any dry areas will be addressed during your service.

Bring snug swimsuit or underwear.
Bottoms are required during your sunless tanning session. Tops are optional. Please note that wool, Lycra, nylon, spandex or silk may stain. Also be sure to remove jewelry and pull hair back. Wear dark and loose clothing to put on after your tan, as well as loose shoes with socks or flip flops.

What should I expect during my custom spray tan?

Relax…you’re in good hands with Ortanic!
Your highly-trained technician will assess your skin type, tone, history and habits before creating a custom formula that will complement your unique skin tone for the most natural-looking tan. Your spray tan application includes professional skin shading and body-contouring to enhance your best assets. Our modern Spa setting makes you feel right at home instantly, so relax and enjoy a truly unique and custom experience.

Strike a pose.
During your tanning service, your technician will gently guide you to stand in a specific series of positions. Your airbrush tan will be meticulously applied and contoured to your body.

Buffer your hot zones.
Before your session is complete, your technician will apply baby powder to your “hot zones” (inner elbows, behind knees, décolletage, under arms and neck). This will act as a buffer until your first shower, which prevents premature fading in these potentially “sweaty” areas.

What should I do immediately after my custom spray tan?

Avoid showering and strenuous or aquatic-based physical activity for at least 8 hours.
You’ll see results immediately, but your tan will continue to develop over the next 8 hours. Refrain from physical activity that causes you to sweat or become wet. This includes swimming, sauna/steam sessions and massage.

Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing while your tan is developing.
Choose cotton clothing over synthetic fibers if you can. Refrain from wearing tight-fitting bras/sports bras or tight-fitting shoes. Our solutions are mixed with cosmetic bronzers to give your customers’ skin a beautiful cosmetic tan while the DHA is activating. The Cosmetic bronzers will get 3-4 shades darker while then tan develops and will rinse off in the shower.

What should I do 8 hours after my custom spray tan?

After 8 hours, take a light warm shower.
Wash with a mild shower gel and simply rinse the extra airbrush solution off the surface of your skin. Do not exfoliate your skin during this shower. Gently pat yourself dry. Do not rub yourself dry.

Beware, shaving after your tan speeds up the exfoliation process and shortens your tan.
This causes your tan to start to fade. When shaving, be sure to use a fresh blade with a light touch to minimize exfoliation and extend the life of your tan.

Refrain from body waxing.
It is not recommended to wax off unwanted body hair while you have your airbrush tan as it is an exfoliant that will cause your tan to fade quickly.

Enjoy your healthy glow for the next 5-7 days.

Maintain and
ENHANCE YOUR TAN

Gently cleanse with a body wash instead of bar soap. Loosen any tight straps during your workouts. Apply baby powder to these friction points and also your “hot zones” (inner elbows, behind knees, décolletage, under arms and neck). A little baby powder in your socks won’t hurt either.

Drink plenty of water and moisturize twice daily with a non-oily product. Moisturizing is key to keeping your Ortanic lasting as long as possible.

Apply in moderation 1-2 times per week at most. Overuse may make your tan look brass-toned.

Use a fresh blade with a light touch to minimize exfoliation and extend the life of your tan.

Use dry oil or cream based SPF. Avoid heavy oil-based SPF.
